More on Mpho Rathando
Mpho Rathando is a seasoned communicator with vast experience in both corporate and broadcasting world. His passion for broadcasting, especially talk shows and current affairs, is largely influenced by his desire to change the lives of others for the better. Mpho’s broadcasting career took off when he was at university where he was involved with the University of Witwatersrand (Wits) campus radio station, Voice of Wits FM (VOW FM). He also hosted talk shows on Government Communications and Information System (GCIS) Radio Link-up where he got an opportunity to interview cabinet ministers and high profile government officials. He also presented various shows on Musina FM, a community radio station based in Musina, Limpopo. He is also a master of ceremonies (MC) as well as voice over artist par excellence.
He has worked for a number of mainstream institutions in South Africa: namely, the University of Witwatersrand - tutoring students; Government Communication and Information System - responsible for content development; SABC News - producing and presenting current affairs show on Phalaphala FM, Ndevhetsini; National Parliament of RSA - responsible for Hansard reporting; Musina Local Municipality responsible for communications; and the Department of Correctional Services as Communications Manager.
Mpho is in possession of four degrees in Journalism, Media Studies and Linguistics from the University of Witwatersrand, Cape Peninsular University of Technology and Stellenbosch University.
